OUR STORY
Our Story — Katha
About Us
SwayamKartha — a Sanskrit word that means "self-made" or "one who is the doer of their own destiny" — was born from a simple belief: what you wear should never wear you.
We design breathable, elegant cotton salwar suits for the modern woman who values comfort as much as style. For the woman who runs a home, builds a career, chases a dream, or simply sits with a cup of chai and watches the rain.
Our clothes are not loud. They do not demand attention. They simply… belong.
Handloom cottons, Chanderi weaves, Kota Doria,Jamdani. Each piece is a quiet celebration of India's textile heritage — but cut for the modern woman who values comfort as much as beauty.
We are not a fast fashion brand. We do not chase trends. We chase feeling.
Because when you wear clothes that feel like you — not too tight, not too loud, just right — something shifts. You stand taller. You move easier. You become… yourself.
SwayamKartha. Art of being you.
Craft & Heritage — Prakriti
Honoring India's timeless textile traditions. Prakriti is our celebration of craft, culture, and the hands that keep them alive.
We are deeply rooted in India's rich textile heritage. Our collections feature Chanderi — lightweight, shimmering, and breathable from the heart of Madhya pradesh. Kota Doria — the airy, distinctive square weave from Rajasthan that has adorned royalty for centuries. Jamdani — handwoven, intricate patterns from Bengal, a 500-year-old tradition. Pure Cotton — soft, breathable, everyday comfort, timeless and versatile. Muslin and Linen — lightweight, summer-friendly fabrics, perfect for warm days.
Each piece is crafted with love by skilled artisans who have inherited their craft through generations. When you wear SwayamKartha, you wear a story — a story of India's textile heritage, of skilled hands, of patient weaves.
Sustainability — Prakriti Raksha
Rooted in nature. Woven with love. Prakriti is our homage to the earth — to the hands that weave, the dyes that colour, and the fabrics that breathe.
We are committed to sustainability in everything we do. We use natural fabrics — pure cotton, handloom weaves, and natural fibres. We practice ethical sourcing, working directly with artisans and weavers, ensuring fair wages and respect. We produce in small batches, reducing waste and overproduction. Our packaging is crafted from sustainable materials. And our pieces are timeless, not trendy — made to last for years.
This is our promise to the earth. This is SwayamKartha.
Our Journey — SwayamKartha Yatra
SwayamKartha was founded by Anupama patil, a woman who believes that clothing should be an extension of one's self — not a costume.
"I started SwayamKartha because I couldn't find cotton suits that were both comfortable and elegant. Every piece I wore either felt stiff or looked too plain. I wanted to create something different — clothing that felt like a gentle hug, yet looked effortlessly beautiful. That's the SwayamKartha promise."
Today, SwayamKartha is a growing community of women who believe in quiet confidence, breathable fabrics, and timeless design. We are proud to celebrate India's textile heritage, one garment at a time.
